Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg will continue the tradition of mayors before him when he takes his place among marchers at the gay pride parade this Sunday. For a moment there, it appeared that Mr. Bloomberg was going to break with one aspect of that tradition by taking his place at the beginning of the parade route at Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street. That would have conspicuously situated him in the center of the crowds of protesters who annually appear in the block surrounding St. Patrick's Cathedral.
