If you need a breast biopsy to investigate a breast lump or mammogram abnormality, your recovery will depend on the type of breast biopsy your doctor recommends. Many times, a sample of tissue can be obtained from the breast using a needle, which makes breast biopsy recovery quick and simple. Other times, your doctor may recommend removing the entire tissue abnormality during a more invasive procedure. This type of procedure can require a longer recovery period.

Background: Vacuum-assisted core-needle biopsy VAB is increasingly used to perform breast biopsies instead of automated-gun core-needle biopsy CNB. The significance of discordance between radiologic and pathologic findings has not been well established in the era of VAB predominance. This retrospective study was conducted to determine the rate of malignancy after surgical excisional biopsy EXB of these lesions at our two institutions. Clinicopathologic data were gathered, and analysis was performed using descriptive statistics.
